After never leaving the Westcoast my whole life it feels good to see new culture. We recently took a spontaneous day trip to Chicago, IL to see the infamous White Sox play. Are we Sox fans? No. But we do enjoy baseball, even though our hearts sit with the San Francisco Giants.. We would rather give our money to Chicago's underdogs.
Chicago is everything one would expect. From the wonderful architecture, primitive culture, and delicious eats. But besides all of that, its remarkably clean and family friendly. I was actually quite surprised on the cleanliness and lack-of homelessness. We did spend most of our time near the river, but we did trek over to the Southlands for the game.
When we got over to the Park we realized we had forgotten to get ourselves a Chicago Dog. Out of sheer desperation we ran into 35th Street Red Hot's and grabbed one. It was mediocre, and we felt a little dooped.. But the Sox ended up winning which was spectacular! And evidently it was 'Half-way to St. Patrick's Day!' night. For $11 dollars a ticket, overalll.. we were very happy. All said and done, we plan to visit The Windy City again in early October for another baseball game. #gosox!
